Supporting a good cause is important. In this way you help people, animals, the environment or you contribute to another great initiative. I also like to contribute to a good cause. In 2019 I traveled to Australia. Here I was confronted with forest fires that caused a lot of damage. Inhabitants have lost a lot and nature was largely destroyed. Billions of animals have also died from the Australian bushfires. From koalas and kangaroos to wallabies, cockatoos and honey eaters. Some species are threatened with extinction and recovery may take years. 

During my trip in Australia, I saw many areas affected by the fires. I will never forget the smell of fire and gray clouds. I also went to the Koala Hospital Port Macquarie been. At the time, more than 60 koalas were sheltered and helped here. Also the famous one koala lewis was taken care of here. He unfortunately died of his injuries; Lewis was one of over 30.000 koalas.

At the Koala Hospital Port Macquarie, the koalas were mostly brought in by residents. Once at the hospital, the special critters are named after the street or neighborhood where they were found and the name of the finder.
